Under the auspices of Dr. Hala bint Said Al-Amoudi, the Dean of Undergraduate Studies for Females, the Department of Shari’a held a ceremony to honor Dr. Wafaa bint Maatouq Farash, Dr. Hanan bint Issa Al-Hazmi, and Dr. Sabah bint Hassan on Wednesday, 11 Shaban 1437 H. at 12:00 in Al-Jawhara Hall in Al-Zaher Females’ Campus.
The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Shikha bin Saud Ashour, the Vice-Dean of Undergraduate Studies for Educational Affairs and Development.
The Dean and the Vice-Dean were welcomed by Dr. Izdihar Madani, the Vice-Dean of the College of Shari’a and Islamic Studies and Dr. Iman bint Salem Qabous, the Deputy-Head of the Department of Shari’a.
The ceremony started with the recitation of Quranic verses, followed by a speech by Dr. Iman bint Salem Qabous. Afterwards, Dr. Hala Al-Amodi delivered a speech in which she indicated that universities are platforms of knowledge and guidance, and that UQU is distinguished from other universities because it is honored by the holy city in which it is seated, and the objectives it aims to achieve. Thus, according to Dr. Al-Amoudi, working at UQU is different from working in other institutions. Dr. Al-Amoudi added that the occasion celebrates a number of outstanding UQU figures who spent many years making efforts faithfully and collaboratively so as to carry out the UQU tasks successfully and achieve its goals that target scientific and practical excellence.
Dr. Al-Amoudi delivered thanks to Dr. Wafaa Farash, the former Dean of Undergraduate Studies for Females and the former staff member at the Department of Shari’a for the tangible efforts she exerted, the cooperation she showed and the fruitful and serious work she did faithfully and diligently, leading to leading contributions over the course of her work at UQU.
She also congratulated Dr. Sabah Hassan and Dr. Hanan Al-Hazmi on their promotion which comes as a recognition of their outstanding efforts in scientific research. She also delivered her thanks to the organizers of the ceremony wishing them all success. The Department of Shari’a afterwards screened a documentary including the annual report of the Department’s activities in the academic year 1436/1437 H.
Interesting dialogues were held with the honored figures. Then Dr. Al-Amoudi honored the active committees at the Department of Shari’a as well as the students who won the (Nation’s Wealth) contest and the (Itmam) contest with trophies, recognition certificates and valuable awards. Finally, the attendees had lunch at the dining hall.
