Under the auspices of the Dean of Preparatory Studies, Dr. Saad bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi, and the supervision of the Vice-dean of Scientific and Administrative Studies, Prof. Dr. Alyaa bint Abdullah Al-Jindy, the deanship organized several events with the aim of honing the academic and practical skills of female students.
"You Are The Most Precious" event to celebrate World Breast Cancer Day
The Shasha Preparatory Year Club - female students organized You Are The Most Precious event to celebrate World Breast Cancer Day in liaison with health awareness department of the Makkah General Directorate for Health Affairs. Family Health Specialist, Dr. Samar bint Ali Jalal opened the event with reiterating its theme; "You matter, get examined and reassure us". A detailed account of symptoms, causes, risk factors and prevention was given. Speaker stressed the importance of early detection, healthy diet and monthly checkups. Brochures on prevention were distributed and a health education team was brought in to conduct early detection checkup on students and deanship staff in Holy Makkah Hospitals.
"Story of My Success" event to motivate preparatory year students in Shasha
The Shasha Preparatory Year Club - female students organized "Story of My Success" event by Amal Falattah, which addresses overcoming fear and going for change and innovation for a better future full of aspirations and self-fulfillment. Additionally, topics of setting up success plan and recognizing success factors were discussed. Students were given an overview of professional requirements and job market requirements. Video clips featuring individual success stories were shown before a Q&A session was held on the subjects addressed.
It's worth mentioning that the events drew large engagement from students and witnessed partnership between the deanship's units and other UQU bodies and third parties, which boosts communication, academic relationships and team spirit within and out of the deanship.
Al-Ghamdi expressed appreciation for the UQU President, Dr. Bakri Matouq Assas, and the Vice-president of Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Rashad Srouji, lauding their continuous support to the Deanship of Preparatory Year. He reiterated that without their support, such events wouldn't turn out to be complete success for students.
