The Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education organized a specialized training course on the basics of educational design on Thursday, 27th April 2017 (1st Shaaban 1438H), at the E-Learning Lab, King Abdullah Library in the University City in Abediyah. The course was presented by Dr. Hassan Al-Sabbagh and Eng. Ahmad Yousry from the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education. In addition, staff members from various colleges and institutes, as well as candidates for the Accredited Trainer Plan at the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, participated in the course.
It is worth mentioning that the course is organized within the framework of a series of specialized courses mainly offered by the Deanship to staff-member representatives of colleges and institutes, as well as candidates for the Accredited Trainer Plan at the Deanship.
The course aimed at clarifying the concept of educational design, understanding the various educational design models, identifying the components of the ADDIE model, distinguishing between the types of educational objectives and their formulation, and knowing the method of content analysis. Moreover, among the practical objectives of the course were applying course design elements to a course model and achieving consistency between objectives, activities and teaching and learning materials.
At the beginning of the meeting and after a brief introduction, the educational design and its significance were presented, while examples of educational design models were mentioned. The course also included the organization of many applied workshops in addition to open discussion and dialogue with trainees. At the end of the meeting, an educational example was applied to the design of a course.
