Dean's Statement
All praise is due to Allah, and may the peace and blessings of Allah be on His messenger Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
As dean of the Community College in Makkah at Umm Al-Qura University, it gives me great pleasure to present this brief statement about this young college which is only four years old but has taken quantum leaps towards catching up with the comprehensive advancement witnessed by various developmental fields in our beloved country, especially those relevant to the labor market in both public and private sectors.
It is well known that the sector of higher education receives generous support from the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. This led to the expansion of the higher education services to accommodate the increasing demand on its various institutions and programs. Community colleges in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represent a major supply for such services. Their programs are noted for their diversity and adaptability to the requirements of the labor market. Graduates of these and similar colleges form the grassroots base of the labor market, the like of which was the springboard of advancement in many developed countries. Attention paid to this base is indeed attention paid to the future of our nation.
All praise is due to Allah the Lord of all worlds.
Professor Dr. Essam bin Hamid Al-Ahdal

Deputy's Statement
All praise is due to Allah, and may the peace and blessings of Allah be on His messenger Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
Allah has favored us with the service of this magnificent enterprise in the most precious and most beloved spot to Allah and to His Messenger, peace be upon him. It serves the Makkan community as well as neighboring cities and villages in our homeland and other Islamic countries. This obliges us to double our efforts, firstly to gain doubled reward, and also to qualify our students, the future leaders, to help in the construction and development movement according to the developmental plan, and to meet a significant part of the community's need for human resources through the various specializations of the college. We look forward to achieving, Allah willing, continuous advancement by developing the graduates' specific quality through offering programs and specializations that satisfy the needs of the community and the labor market, developing academic plans, and meticulously selecting faculty members and courses that would qualify the students to quickly find a job after graduation or pursue further university studies.
Origin:
Establishing the college started in 1422 AH pursuant to Cabinet Decree no. (3) on 5/2/1422 AH that endorsed the Higher Economic Council Decree no. (4/22) on 4/3/1422 AH regarding increasing admission to higher education institutions. It implied establishing thirteen community colleges in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including the Community College at Makkah, which was inaugurated and started accepting admissions at the beginning of academic year 1425 AH.
The community college is defined as an academic and vocational institution that is subordinate to the university and considered to be one of its colleges. It offers adaptable study programs in various specializations that serve the work environment. Registration, attendance, and evaluation are based on the credit system. Some specialized programs offer training courses before graduation or qualification courses before specialization. The average duration of study is two years. The College also gives excelling students a chance to pursue their studies in the university.
The Community College in Makkah offers a number of study programs and specializations for two academic years as an intermediary level between the secondary and university stages. The college's programs are characterized by comprehensiveness and flexibility so as to match the needs of individuals and the community, and to supply the human resources needed for developmental plans. Studying at the college ends with granting an associate degree that is equivalent in the Kingdom to intermediary college diplomas.
The College qualifies its graduates to enter the labor market after finishing their study, during which they obtain a suitable amount of experience and theoretical and applied knowledge that qualify the graduate for productive work. In addition, they qualify excelling students to pursue their university studies if they wish.
