Department of Curricula and Teaching Methods

Historical Overview

The Department of Curricula and Teaching Methods was launched as a branch of the Department of Education and Psychology founded in the academic year 1385/1386 AH, College of Education. This Department played an effective role in the educational and behavioral preparation for all the departments of the colleges of Education and Shari'ah. Then it became independent from the Department of Education and Psychology at the beginning of the academic year 1395/1396 AH. Since then, it has tended to offer its educational services till the present time.

Objectives:

There are some objectives that the Department of Curricula and Teaching Methods seeks to achieve through the educational services it offers for the preparation of teachers. Such objectives are:

1- The educational and behavioral preparation of teachers in all fields of specialization offered by colleges at Umm Al-Qura University.

2- Focusing on practical training on educational situations, through the practical education program organized and supervised by the Department in agreement and coordination with the Department of Education in Makkah.

3- Providing educational services and consultations for researchers as well as educational bodies and institutions across the country.

4- Offering postgraduate courses for master degrees and doctorates in the fields of curricula and teachings methods, educational supervision and teachings means in addition to academic supervision on postgraduate students.

5- Teaching the subjects of curricula, teaching methods, educational supervision and teaching means at the levels of postgraduate studies and bachelor's degree.

6- Conducting researches in the fields of curricula, teaching methods, educational supervision and teaching means for all the stages of public education; and contributing to the promotion of applied researches in all educational stages.

7- Contributing to the training courses organized for educational supervisors, activity leaders and school managers.

8- Contributing to educational preparation programs designed for the qualification and preparation of teachers in all scientific fields of specialization.
