Diploma of Accounting Program
Introduction
This accounting program was originally provided by the College of Community Service and Continuing Education, Umm Al-Qura University. Eventually, the program and its content were further developed and modified to fit the requirements of the Makkah Community College.
The programs of the community college are noted for their comprehensiveness and flexibility so as to match the needs of individuals and the society, and to provide the human resources needed for development. Accordingly, this program was designed to help holders of high-school and equivalent diplomas to obtain a diploma in accounting that enables them to work in the governmental sector or any private sector field, including banks, hospitals, hotels, Hajj and Umrah companies, auditing firms, and the like.
The program was also designed to enable the student to pass the fellowship certificate examination offered by the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA) in the Kingdom and similar examinations in other countries.
The program courses include computer-based accounting applications, to acquaint the student with the accounting programs that are used in the public and private sectors.
This program also includes courses in English to develop the student's language skills in general and in accounting terminology in particular. Additionally, the program includes a course on the Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) rulings on various financial operations, delivered by specialists from the department of Islamic economy in the university. Furthermore, the program acquaints the student with commercial systems and corporate accounting, in addition to some communication and IT skills based on standard general courses taught as part of all programs of community colleges.
Fields of work
The program awards a diploma degree after four semesters and a training period, during which the student is trained on working for the governmental sector or any private sector field, including banks, hospitals, hotels, Hajj and Umrah companies, auditing firms, and the like, as well as governmental authorities specialized in these fields.
